UNSIGNED ONLY IS A UNIQUE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION DESIGNED FOR SOLO ARTISTS, BANDS, AND SINGERS WHO ARE NOT SIGNED TO A MAJOR LABEL RECORD COMPANY OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, OR IMPRINTS.

Unsigned Only levels the playing field for artists like you because it excludes entries from anyone who is signed to a major label record deal, so you are not competing with well-known artists, Grammy winners, or artists with a major label machine behind them. This is why the competition is called Unsigned Only.

Conceived of and produced by the team who bring you the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC), Unsigned Only is a fresh and novel approach to other music competitions.

Unsigned Only offers many categories/genres for you to enter, including Screen Shot which is geared toward getting your music into film, tv, video games, and other licensing opportunities.

You can enter as many songs as you like in as many categories as you like. Since Unsigned Only is looking for an artist, it is advantageous to enter multiple songs so that the listening committee can know who you are as an artist.

This competition offers great prizes, recognition, exposure, and the chance to be heard by a group of judges consisting of high-profile recording artists and industry professionals.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE MENTOR?

Unsigned Only has put together a group of record label executives in different genres who have all agreed to “mentor” the Grand Prize winner.

From this group, a minimum of three mentors will be selected and put in direct contact with the winner via meeting, Skype, or telephone. The method of contact may vary from mentor to mentor, depending on scheduling. Unsigned Only cannot guarantee a particular mentor’s availability, so the group of mentors includes more than three individuals in order to accommodate any unforeseen changes in labels, personnel, or other circumstances preventing a mentor from participation.

Mentoring must be completed by the end of the calendar year of the competition unless a mentor’s schedule does not permit. Therefore, if the Grand Prize winner and mentor opt to meet in person, it must be done by the end of the calendar year; otherwise, the mentoring will be done by telephone or Skype.

WHAT IS FANDEMONIUM?

Fandemonium is an online public vote whereby fans, friends, etc. can vote for their favorite Unsigned Only finalist. The artist who receives the most votes is the Fandemonium winner and wins lots of cool prizes and bragging rights!

This promotion is completely separate from the regular winners in the overall competition who are selected by the Unsigned Only judges.

HOW CAN I ENTER ONLINE?

Unsigned Only offers multiple platforms for you to enter online, including Unsigned Only’s own platform and Sonicbids.

Enter through the Unsigned Only website, using your Facebook, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, or any other streaming page in lieu of uploading an mp3 as long as you make sure the songs you enter are on the page and listenable. Just go to our Enter Your Songs Now page and click the Online button.
